06.01.21. Conflicting Theories

origins of COVID-19

Conflicting theories about the origins of COVID-19 continue to make news, with U.S. politicians pushing for investigations into whether it originated from a lab in Wuhan, China.

This week on Middle Theory, we lead off with our observance of Memorial Day and related news, which includes an analysis of a dispute that erupted between Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Texas Senator Ted Cruz. We also look at shootings that occurred over the holiday weekend, and how a seven-year-old boy managed to save his family by swimming for an hour.

Then getting to the heart of the discussion, while U.S. politicians continue to press for investigations into the possible origin of COVID-19 at a virology lab in Wuhan, China, some scientists have raised objections to variations of the lab theory. We look at these theories and weigh the possibilities in terms of what scientists have had to say about the matter in recent days.
